Historical background spanning over 100 years

History of McCoy Teas

Founded in the early 1900s by a British planter in Ceylon (Sri Lanka), a pioneer of Ceylon tea, the company has been selling the finest teas for 120 years.

British planters started planting tea on our tea estates adjacent to the first large-scale tea plantations in Sri Lanka, and have continued to protect the vast plantations that have been in existence for over a century, remaining lush and green.

Our own farm

We are adjacent to the first large-scale plantation in Sri Lanka (Ceylon), and are a pioneer in the tea industry. Our many years of cultivation and replanting know-how have led us to develop specialized techniques and knowledge under the guidance of the Sri Lanka Tea Research Institute. We are recognized as the best tea plantation in Sri Lanka.

Our own factory

Founded by the British in the early 1900s, our tea factory is located in Kandy, 2700 feet above sea level, surrounded by green tea fields that have been nurtured by the climate and natural environment, in a breathtakingly beautiful environment. For over a century, we have been producing single-plantation, single-variety teas with their own unique characteristics and flavors. In recognition of our achievements, we received the Best Tea Factory Award in Kandy, the capital of the Central Province of Sri Lanka. The carefully selected tea leaves harvested at our own plantation are carefully processed and meticulously treated to provide high quality in terms of variety, color, taste and aroma.

McCoy Teas' Strengths

Currently, McCoy Tea exports various kinds of black tea to more than 20 countries around the world, and cooperates with European designers to design packaging for Europe, exporting a large amount of products under its own brand and original brand. In 2022, in order to meet the strict Japanese food import standards, we will always import 28 kinds of black tea. We are also considering new blends to meet the needs of customers in the Japanese market.

The best thing about McCoy Tea is that we are extremely flexible in our manufacturing, allowing us to quickly respond to market needs with new blends, new packaging and even tweaks to our tea flavours.
